The Pitot Index

How AI ranks your sector — published.

The Pitot Index is our continuous, public benchmark of how artificial intelligence perceives the leading brands in a sector. We run the same fixed instrument across the major AI systems on a regular cadence, and publish the result as a league table, with pillar scores and a sector report.

Published snapshot

The board, as the machines read it.

Thirteen premium sectors, each scored on how the major AI systems read the brands within it. The number is the category average — the mean reading across the brands ARES-C tracks in the sector’s top ten. Select a sector for its full board.

A snapshot held on this site — not a live connection. The continuous, interactive board, with sector reports and history, is published at index.pitotgroup.com ↗.

What it does

It shows the shape of a sector

Who the machines favour, who they overlook, and where a brand’s signal is unstable from one model to the next.

That instability is not noise.

What it detects
Movement in how readable, trusted and recommended a brand is across the AI ecosystem — and the shape of the whole sector around it.
Why instability matters
A brand the models disagree about is a brand whose story has not yet held. Disagreement between models is reported as a result in its own right.
How it’s run

Pre-registered, and defensible

One pass per prompt, every major model, scored against a fixed rubric, with the brand universe reconciled the same way each cycle.

Uncertainty, always
Every figure carries an uncertainty band — 72 ± 4, never a false 72.3.
Pre-registration
Every cycle is pre-registered before it runs, so no result can be arranged after the fact. The wall between the public benchmark and paid work is structural, not promised.
Operational

A brand the models disagree about is a brand whose story has not yet held.

The Index is published and continuous. To read one brand to the floor instead of a sector at a glance, commission an Audit.
